Gallery Statement
My idea is to focus on a group of artists that create their art through the lens of their cameras. Photography has always been a passion of mine. The idea of capturing a moment in time that can never be replaced is so fascinating. Whether it is a photo of a person or a place, that instinct will never be the same again. Although there are many ways of creating photography, the photographers I have chosen direct their work on people in different mediums. Different reasoning behind each photo is what will separate these five artists from each other. I will look into these photographers as they have shown the most interest during this semester.
Gallery Map
As guests arrive, it is recommended to follow this assigned route through each room, but it not required. Although each of these artist have similarities, they are all individualized into their own qualities. Organized into a large circle it is easy for the guest to view all of the pieces without any feeling of claustrophobia. An open area in the middle will be an area where the guest can remove themselves for a refreshment and socialization with friends and people in similar work fields.

Diane Arbus is known for her work in photographing the people of New York. Her interest in art came from the help of her husband, Allan Arbus, who helped her focus her skill of photography. She is known for her black-and-white style square photographs. The interesting people that she was drawn into photographing were the people who were outside of the norm. She also had her share in commercial photography in the late 40s.

She is known for shooting photos of young adults and showing enjoys editing the photos that she finds fit right for the specific show.
Sally Mann
Sally Mann is well-known for her black and white photo series. Controversially she takes her photos of people in the nude. Even more controversial, the people in her photos are of her very young children without clothes. She is very comfortable with the nudity even though the critics in her field feel differently. Mann later started creating photos of landscapes through wet plate collodion.
